Stop Saying That Beauty Has to be White

Stop Saying That Beauty Has to be White

For most Indonesian women, the standard of beauty is that of having white, slim, tall, thin, and smooth skin. Stereotypes are not even foreign and are often heard in everyday life.

"Try if you are a little white, surely you will be beautiful"

"Try to go on a diet, there must be a lot of guys who want to be with you"

"Try your skin is not black, surely you already have a boyfriend".

These expressions often come from the mouths of other people. Frankly, these statements are actually unusual, not unusual at all. These sentences can make them feel uncomfortable with their own bodies. For this reason, it is necessary to have firm boundaries that underline that beauty does not have to be white. Beauty doesn't have to be skinny. Beauty doesn't have to be slim. Beauty doesn't have to be straight hair. Beauty doesn't have to be sharp. All women are beautiful as long as they are comfortable with themselves. So, stop being insecure for all of you women who read my writing. Stop always comparing yourself to others. Try to make peace with yourself; you deserve to be happy with your own version.
